The DFW Tea Ladies…

Published by Dakota under Uncategorized

…Totally rawk! Sara, Mindy (who totally knows what’s in her color wheel because she rocked that teal sweater), Gwen, Sandi, Kelly (my new BFF), Patricia, Maria and several others who were at the other end of the table and I missed chatting with them as closely.

‘K, so in the interest of helping me meet folks who read romances and might be interested in attending my book launch, my friend Michele Bardsley introduced me to Sara Reyes, who heads the DFW Tea group here in TX. I sorta knew who they were because my friend, Sandy, from the review site I began on long, long ago had mentioned them once, but I hadn’t seen Sandy since RWA in Dallas in 2004–we’ll get into that later. The me not actually SEEING Sandy when we live but 15 or 20 minutes from each other part, that is. Snort.

Anyhoodles, we went to a place called The Verandah Tea Room, that I didn’t even know existed because I get out SO much, and I was a little worried, cuz I’m sorta a die-hard coffee drinker, ya know? However, I gotta say, the mango tea and the vanilla mint tea were yummylicious.

They had these tiered servers with all these cute sandwiches on ‘em with the crusts cut off–I highly recommend the cucumber cream cheese. Yu-mm-y. They had scones with a blueberry topping (I think. Didn’t try it), and clotted cream which was uber-awesome too.

So we ate, we chatted, and then we swapped BOOKS. Dudes, these ladies had books for miles. Heavenly stuff, I tell ya. I only brought four, so I only took back four with me in the interest of not glomming onto every book I could salivate over. Thus the conclusion be drawn that I’m a HOG.LOL.  But I got some good category romances that I know my mom will enjoy too once I’m done with them.

They also invited me to have dinner with them the night of my book signing in Feb. I’m stoked because they mentioned alcohol as a part of the deal and if they encourage me enough, I may participate in some libation and that reading I’m doing at the book launch could be very interesting. Tee hee :)

Now to the part about Sandi… and please, hold your gasps of dismay until the end of this post when you can appropriately feel my pain for the dissing I’ve been doled out. LOLLOL

So Sandi and I met back in like 2003 when she reviewed for the same online site I did. When I moved to TX after La Divorce she attended RWA and I was there to meet my first agent. Hence, we met in person for the first time and that was the LAST time I heard from her. Knowing I was new to Dallas… knowing I had not a single soul to call friend in Dallas and Sandi coulda been it, BUT she never once took pity on me and emailed me. She says she forgot my email address, but then I caught her saying she reads my blog–is my email address on my blog? Why, yes, yes it is… I’m just sayin’. Am I like everywhere on the Internet? Um, yes, yes I am…

So Sandi has a lot to make up for. She’s also got a BFF whose name is Kelly and was at the tea too. My mission is to make Kelly my BFF and steal her from Sandy, thus getting her back for leaving a northern girl all alone in TEXAS. LOL

Sandi and her hubby and R and I are having dinner together next Saturday–because Sandi thinks she can make up for ditching my butt for nigh on almost three years and make it up to me in one dinner. But I’m not bitter. LOLLOL. I’m kidding. I joke because I love and it was awesome to see Sandi and make a bunch of new friends.

So to the ladies of the DFW Tea, and Kelly, my new BFF (neener, neener, neener, Sandi), thank you so much for having me. I had a great time and I can’t wait to do it again next month! Y’all are a hoot and anyone who’s in the DFW area should come and hang out–you’ll be glad you did!
