Fab 5 of February 5!

Published by Dakota at 4:57 pm under Uncategorized

On February 5th, The Accidental Werewolf will be released and in stores! Squeeee ☺ In the first of three stories in the Accidental series, my heroine, Marty Andrews, multilevel cosmetics sales guru is accidentally bitten by a hawt shapeshifting werewolf and well, as always, zaniness ensues.

But I’m not the only one with a fantastic release this Feb 5th! Jaci Burton’s –Riding Wild, Joey Hill’s– Mark Of The Vampire Queen, Nalini Singh’s– Mine To Posses and Meljean Brook’s– Demon Nights are all available, too! So check out what happens when five authors get together for a round robin of questions and answers, then give you five chances to blog hop to enter to win a bunch of awesome stuff!

I’m giving away a 25-dollar Amazon Gift Certificate, and the other ladies are offering their own fabulous prizes. So here’s how to play to win ☺

1—read the question and answers below.
2—answer the question by leaving me a comment here to enter for the gift cert.
3—go to the remaining blogs (just click on the links) to enter to win the other authors contests, too!

Winners will be drawn at random—contest ends February 3, 2008 at 12 a.m. pacific. So check back here on my blog for the winner of the Amazon Gift certificate Monday February 4, 2008.

And now, the question…

If you could co-author a book with the author of your choice, who would it be?

1) Jaci Burton–Nora Roberts, of course. Though working with her would be scary. I envision her with whip in hand, forcing me to work harder than I’ve ever worked before. Hey, that would probably be good for me! ;-)

2) Nalini Singh– I think I’d like to do a book with Anne McCaffrey. I’m a huge addict of her books, so I’d love to be allowed to play in her worlds. Or even just to sit there and absorb Ms. McCaffrey’s words of wisdom.

3) Joey Hill–I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but if I had to victimize someone, it would be Denise Rossetti. Her style is the right combination of drama and humor in a wonderful, seemingly effortless prose. I think we’d make a great balance – she’d break up my angst with her marvelous grasp of dry humor and we’d combine our love of the erotic to send the readers into emotional and physical meltdown. It would probably work through one book before she’d kill me for being so anal, Type A and bossy.

4) Meljean Brooks--Ilona Andrews. She’s got the most fantastic, original worldbuilding, and a gift of capturing a character in a few precise images. I envy that like crazy — one thing I am not is concise; I imagine I’d be sweating and crying as I cut out all of my extra stuff, but it’d be good for me.

5) Dakota Cassidy–NinaBangsNinaBangsNinaBangs–she’s my completely off the wall concept IDOL

And now—the bootay! So—ready—set–go blog hopping!

Jaci Burton– Go here to answer the question and enter.  Jaci’s blog

Nalini Singh– Go here to answer the question and enter.  Nalini’s blog

Joey Hill– Go here to answer the question and enter.  Joey’s blog

oHhhhhhhhhh well I cant write…. but if I could. I think Lynsay Sands (Sorry Dakota) I mean she who will remain nameless…..

  2. danetteon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:08 pm

Nice,Five Fantastic Reads coming out

If I could co-author a book with someone it would be Eileen Wilks,I love how she writes her paranormal worlds, I get lost in them everytime.

    Hugs, Danette

  3. Wendyon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:13 pm

Two words: Kresley Cole. I looooves her.

In fact I would probably just sit back and let her write the whole thing while I make crappy jokes because OHMYGOD, SHE ROCKS.

    Ok, I’m done now.

  4. Evaon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:13 pm

I think it would have to be Anne McCaffrey (dragons RAWK!), Christine Feehan (who wouldn’t want to delve into the mind of the creator of those hunky carpathians?), or Janet Chapman (show me to the Scottsmen of Maine!).

  5. Crystal B.on 01 Feb 2008 at 5:16 pm

Sherrilyn Kenyon. I love her books.

  6. Laura Kon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:21 pm

I would choose Joey Hill. I love her writing, need a klenex box chained up next to me, when I do read her works. I would also take Janet Evanovich, too. Love those campy Stephanie Plum adventures!

  7. Little Lamb Loston 01 Feb 2008 at 5:21 pm

I am not a writer but if I were, I would choose Rachel Caine. I am new to her books but really enjoy them.

  8. Krystalon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:27 pm

There are so many great authors out there, it is hard to pick only one.I would have to flip a coin to pick between you Dakota and Lacy Danes. You both have very Hott books.

  9. Katon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:30 pm

I think I’d be too terrified to work with most of my favorite authors. Seriously.

I think if I had to pick one, I’d say Kinley MacGregor (aka Sherrilyn Kenyon). I think I could meld best with her KM books and for books that are co-authored, they have to flow together well for me to like them :)

  10. Terriseson 01 Feb 2008 at 5:33 pm

Well don’t enter me… but if I was writing a book I would want to write it with Dakota, Michele Bardsley and Renee George. We would have a BLAST !

  11. Lisaon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:33 pm

I am not an author, but I would choose Lora Leigh. Maybe I would get the inside scoop on the Breed books!

  12. Julieon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:49 pm

It would have to be J.R. Ward! I love the Blackdagger Brotherhood, it would be cool to help write one.

  13. catsladyon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:51 pm

This is hard but I’m going to say Jill Shalvis - love her humor.

  14. alice chowon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:53 pm

If I could, Lisa Kleypas-although I’ll probably be too much in awe to do anything except stare, her stories and writings are wonderful.

  15. Helen Gonzalezon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:55 pm

:muahaha: Uhhh yeah my evil side says if I could spend time with any author it would be……. umm…. Piers Anthony. His book on Xanth not only got me reading but it allowed me to take the first steps into whole new worlds. I would read as assignments were given but not really enjoy what I was forced to read and with the Xanth novels it was FUN!!! I gave other books a chance and from there….. the skies the limit because I haven’t stopped reading since. So I guess you could say I would want to write with him so I could learn to imbue my words and any work(s) in a way that made others enjoy reading as I now do and have for a long time. Hope all of you have a great groundhog day weekend-(if you are not familiar with this holiday its a crazy American holiday where we watch a hole in the ground where hopefully a groundhog is in and see if he looks at his shadow because that will determine if we have and early or later Spring… yeah I did say us Americans are crazy!!)
LoL, Helen Gonzalez aka helenhikaru Myspace

  16. Cathy Cookon 01 Feb 2008 at 5:56 pm

I only wish I could write !! But lets just say I did, I love to co-author with Carly Phillips or Lori Foster !

  17. Jenniferon 01 Feb 2008 at 6:00 pm

I would love to write a book with Terry Pratchett. He has such an irreverent sense of humor. I really love his books and the world he has created and am saddened that he is now suffering from Alzheimer’s.

  18. Cherie Jon 01 Feb 2008 at 6:01 pm

If I could write worth a hill of beans then I would have to choose Nalini Singh. I love her books!

  19. [...] Dakota Cassidy [...]

  20. Maeredon 01 Feb 2008 at 6:17 pm

I would love to co-write or just help write a book with Tamora Pierce. I love her books! She writes young adult fantasy books with kick ass heroines.

  21. Kerry Allenon 01 Feb 2008 at 7:04 pm

Jennifer Armintrout, on the condition I get to play with the toys in her office…

  22. Michelle (MG)on 01 Feb 2008 at 7:04 pm

OMG - wow. That’s a tough call. I’m not sure I really get writing with someone else. If I wanted to write a kick-ass action thing I’d want to collaborate with Jaci. She does that so well and I think I do the emotional sappy stuff pretty well. Maybe combined we could kick emotional action adventure!

  23. Goldieon 01 Feb 2008 at 7:16 pm

Well you all are great! authors but I would have to go with Sherrilyn Kenyon….I SOO LOVE her Dark-Hunter’s!!!!!!!! I’m so into her books that I write storys on her yahoo group  Thou I don’t think I could sit with her and not passout from shock…LOL

  24. Patricia Cochranon 01 Feb 2008 at 7:17 pm

Argh……(This is me, tearing out my hair as I try to make a decision!)

I’m not a writer, but I would select Nora Roberts. or Debbie Macomber
or Terry McLaughlin or Lindsay McKenna or Caridad Piniero or Stephanie
Laurens or Kathleen Eagle or Catherine Coulter ………….I guess you
can see that I would have great difficulty in making a choice! It would be an honor to co-author with any of these great authors!!!

    Pat Cochran

  25. Lison 01 Feb 2008 at 7:36 pm

Tough question! Let’s see, Jackie Collins maybe? Or if its YA, Stephenie Meyer would be cool

  26. Jennifer Y.on 01 Feb 2008 at 7:46 pm

I am sooo not a writer, but would be thrilled to work with anyone…I’d probably end up driving them crazy though and causing more work…LOL.

But if I had to choose maybe Julie Garwood or Julia Quinn…..or Jaci Burton or Maya Banks (they seem like they’d be fun to work with…LOL).

  27. Kylieon 01 Feb 2008 at 8:18 pm

So many choices but I think Anne McCaffrey would be an incredible writer to work with - her world-building and mix of genres is right up my alley - I was first introduced to her at age 13 with “Dragonflight” and my love of her writing began there. She creates incredibly complex worlds in both fantasy and sci-fi with beautifully drawn characters/relationships, heroes and villains alike. Being able to draw on her wealth of experience would be awesome.

  28. Mippyon 01 Feb 2008 at 8:32 pm

Moi? Co-author a book? hahahaha…surely you jest. Okay if on the off chance that I actually did have any talent whatsoever for writing, I’d pick…oh geez, this is a hard one…I guess I’ll go with Patricia Briggs. I love and adore her Mercy Thompson series. She has some fantastic world building going on in there and she just created a spin-off series, Alpha & Omega. Great urban fantasy…

  29. Ann M.on 01 Feb 2008 at 8:34 pm

Not a writer here and don’t know the first thing about trying to write a novel. I would love to be able to watch the process of Suzanne Brockmann. I love how she has her Troubleshooter world intertwined with military, government and civilian characters.

  30. Bonitaon 01 Feb 2008 at 8:53 pm

I could never write a book, nor write with some one else — I am not a good team player LOL — I never could even do group projects in school; I usually ended up doing the entire thing myself — Aye there are words that describe people like me, but I do not use them. LOLLOLLOL

However, I could read early drafts and comment like crazy ——–

  31. Pamkon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:00 pm

LOL If I could write it would have to be with Lora Leigh just so I can read her books sooner.

  32. Diane Pollockon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:03 pm

Stephen King! One, just to get to meet him, and then also maybe he could transform my crazy life into an edge-of-the seat thriller!

  33. Jen in WAon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:07 pm

JK Rowling. Such an awesome storyteller. Just to be in her presence would be a thrill. But to actually she her work? It would be an unbelievable privilege.

  34. Mariaon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:09 pm

I’m not a writer, but I would choose J.J. Massa.

  35. aztecladyon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:10 pm

Oh dear me! I don’t write, can’t write, don’t want to write!

But if I absolutely HAD to collaborate with someone in a book, I’d go with Isaac Asimov. I think he could rescue such effort no matter my bumbling, and made it come out interesting.

  36. Patrickon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:14 pm

Someone already took Terry Pratchett, so I’ll go with Martha Grimes; I wouldn’t contribute much — wouldn’t want to mess up her plots — but I’d like to see how she works.

  37. Culleenon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:25 pm

Hmm thats a tough one!! all the afor mentioed authors are really good but I am not a writter so I would like to tag along with Rachel Vincent or Jackie Kessler or Richelle Mead.. Cuz they RAWK!! LOl
Of course I would like to enter the writing mind Of DC also!!!
    Culleen

  38. Belenon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:44 pm

I´m not a writer, but if I could co-author a book with someone, I guess it would have to be with either J. D. Robb or Nalini :)

    B

  39. Deniseon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:51 pm

I think Nina Bangs. I recently discovered the Woo Woo Inn books and love them!! But of course, i can’t write!!

  40. tina bon 01 Feb 2008 at 9:52 pm

linda howard. absolutely adore her books.. or lori foster.. i think i have everything they have ever written. ahhhh love to write with them..

  41. BookeWyrmson 01 Feb 2008 at 10:14 pm

I have alot of authors I admire and would love to pick thier brains and add a few of my own thoughts to thier stories - but in this case I would have to say Nalini - I would be badgering her to hurrry up and write Dorians story-She would be providing the genius!

  42. tamion 01 Feb 2008 at 10:25 pm

    maryjanice davidson and charlaine harris

  43. katiebabson 01 Feb 2008 at 10:49 pm

    Stephen King hands down. :coffee:

  44. RobynLon 01 Feb 2008 at 11:26 pm

So not a writer here either; I would choose Debbie Macomber or
Sandra Brown; love the books of both.

  45. Pam Pon 01 Feb 2008 at 11:35 pm

Right now, it would be Nalini since I’m not pyschic , so I wouldn’t have to wait so long to find out what’s happening next in her world and to get the scoop on Hawk - she won’t tell us anything, lol.

I like Nina Bangs, too, Dakota, can see you writing with her.

  46. Zaraon 02 Feb 2008 at 12:19 am

I would say J.R. Ward, but I hate to screw over one of my favorite authors by making her include my chaotic ramblings lol. She’s amazing though, so maybe she could save the story. :smirk:

  47. Lisaon 02 Feb 2008 at 12:37 am

 You could write one with me Dakota! LOL! No I think one of the other would be better and Nina and you together would be great.
    Hugs!
    Lisa

  48. Caffeyon 02 Feb 2008 at 12:43 am

Oh this is fun! I’d love to write a book with Kate Douglas. I love her creative wolf books! And so many that I’d love to see how her mind works putting them all together!

That would be one. I’d love to write with so many others…not that I could write, I’d probably be reading and telling them things, LOL.

  49. Jaxonon 02 Feb 2008 at 12:46 am

One author to co-write a novel? I’m not sure I could chose just one. It would depend on what kind of book we would be writing. If it was a children’s novel - Shel Silverstein. Urban Fantasy - it would probably be between Laurell K Hamilton and Katie MacAlister. Historic Fiction - definitely Diana Gabaldon.

  50. Aymlesson 02 Feb 2008 at 1:03 am

Oh fun! I would want to write with well, Nalini (that way I could get insights on her fascinating characters) or Mark Twain.

  51. Lisa G.on 02 Feb 2008 at 4:14 am

 I would never be skilled enough to write a book even with help but if I had to I would like to write with John Grogan. His book Marley and Me was so touching. I would love to be able to write a book that would take people through a rollercoaster of emotions the way his book did to me.

  52. Aprilon 02 Feb 2008 at 7:48 am

There are so many great authors in this world. It’s hard to pick out one amung them. If its okay by you, I think I’d like to write with you Dakota. I promise I’d at the very least be helpful since I do know how to make good coffee. LOL But seriously, I love your writing style, your humor, and your books. And BTW, congrats on your newest release!

  53. Pennyon 02 Feb 2008 at 8:50 am

I’m not a writer but I love to read. I would pick Shiloh Walker because I’ve enjoyed her books from the beginning.

  54. Maureenon 02 Feb 2008 at 10:49 am

I would pick Lucy Monroe if I could actually write.

  55. carolyn jeanon 02 Feb 2008 at 10:54 am

I would go with Janet Evanovich here for sheer fun.

  56. Jennifer Estepon 02 Feb 2008 at 10:57 am

Donald Westlake. His books are always smart and funny.

  57. Janet Hon 02 Feb 2008 at 11:03 am

Jaci Burton, Joey Hill, or maybe Stephanie Laurens or maybe Lora Leigh, or maybe Linda Howard, I could keep going…

  58. Helen E. Gonzalezon 02 Feb 2008 at 1:11 pm

:muahaha: Uhhh yeah my evil side says if I could spend time with any author it would be……. umm…. Piers Anthony. 59. Christineon 02 Feb 2008 at 2:22 pm

Hi Dakota! Best wishes on your upcoming release of “The Accidental Werewolf!” It sounds really fun… and I love the unique cover!

I would choose to co-author with Meljean Brook. But I’d be too afraid to mess her up, so I’d settle for just being her indespensible side kick! You know… offer encouragement, do edits, make the coffee, pass her tools, stuff like that.

  60. cathy Mon 02 Feb 2008 at 2:46 pm

I would pick Sarah McCarty. I love how she writes her heroes.

  61. Brandyon 02 Feb 2008 at 2:58 pm

I’m not a writer and have no idea how to write “funny”. But, I think that I would want to write with Janet Evanovich. I want to see how she comes up with the situations she puts her characters in.

  62. Teresa W.on 02 Feb 2008 at 3:12 pm

My pick hands down would be Sherrily Kenyon with one of her Dark-Hunter books!

  63. Vicki Wurgleron 02 Feb 2008 at 3:27 pm

My first thought was Nicholas Sparks, and then I saw someone suggested Stephen King, and I’d enjoy writing with Jaci Burton also.

  64. JSLon 02 Feb 2008 at 3:37 pm

Hm… I would love to work with a number of authors, but I think I’d pick Jennifer Crusie, because she’s worked with other authors before, so hopefully that would make her more willing to put up with my hijinks and trouble :-P that or Leanne Banks

  65. Lorelei Kernson 02 Feb 2008 at 4:23 pm

I don’t write, but I can do a fine editing job!
I have a hard time choosing — Nora Roberts, Keri Arthur, Katie MacAlister, Jaci Burton, Mandy M Roth, oooooo…….. too hard to pick only one!

  66. Amy Tooheyon 02 Feb 2008 at 7:19 pm

I’m with Lorelei - can’t write, but I’m a damn fine copy editor! I can also track down obscure info so I’m a good research hound. Maybe Bertrice Small? So many authors listed above that I think the world of, but I’ll leave ~paired~ as they are. I adore Robert J. Sawyer’s work (try the Hominids, Humans, and Hybrids trilogy if you have a chance) - or I could just say my good friend William H. Keith!

  67. AJ betchyadontknowitsmeon 02 Feb 2008 at 7:22 pm

I would write with Nalini Singh…since i can write worth a damn, she’d be doing all the writing, I’d do all the reading so I would know all about the books before everyone else!

  68. Glenna Dayon 02 Feb 2008 at 8:33 pm

I am not a write but man what a hard question…so many great authors out there. I think though that I would pick Laurell K Hamilton. So many great characters in her books would be fun to watch her mind work.

  69. Maria Von 02 Feb 2008 at 10:40 pm

I would co-author a book with Tess Gerritson because I love suspense writing. I love a good mystery every now and then.

  70. Amy S.on 02 Feb 2008 at 10:49 pm

This is hard to pick just one. Lora Leigh or Linda Howard.

  71. Teri Brownon 02 Feb 2008 at 11:03 pm

Hard question… Probably Jane Porter. I love her work and would love to write a young adult with her:)
    Teri

  72. Teri Brownon 02 Feb 2008 at 11:04 pm

 Probably Jane Porter. I love her work and would love to write a young adult with her:)
    Teri

  73. Tracy S.on 03 Feb 2008 at 2:06 am

Co-Author a book. Hold on - I’m busy laughing hysterically! I read really well. Writing - no so much. Even See Spot Run books blow my ability out of the water! :)
Seriously - IF I could write and some poor person wanted to write a book with me I’d probably choose (damn! Hard decision!) Nalini Singh. I’d love to see how her mind works - but that goes for all authors!

  74. Daphnieon 03 Feb 2008 at 5:32 am

If I were to co-author a book with a favorite author, it would have to be a three way tie between Lora Leigh, Denise Rossetti, or Christine Warren. But I would also be happy having Tex-Mex, and a couple pictures of Margaritas with the above mentioned ladies, and with everyone that I’m about to blog hop to, present blog included! Y’all rock!

  75. Emilyon 03 Feb 2008 at 1:13 pm

If i could co-author with anyone it would have to be with Sherrilyn Kenyon’s cause it was here Dark Hunter books was the first book that got into these kinds of books lol  :coffee:

  76. Angieon 03 Feb 2008 at 1:36 pm

That’s tough, because after having tried it a couple of times I’m really not into collaborating. If I had to, though, and could pick anyone, I’d go for Lois McMaster Bujold. She’s pretty much got everything down pat on the writing end, and from what I’ve seen of her at conventions she seems to be a cool person too.

    Angie

  77. Colletteon 03 Feb 2008 at 2:44 pm

I think I’d go with Faith Hunter right now. I’m totally in love with her books and have a slight crush on her currently.

  78. Ilonaon 03 Feb 2008 at 4:32 pm

I’m no writer so I wouldn’t even be attempting to co-write a book. lol. However I would have to say if I could, I would choose Nalini Singh just so I got to read her latest Psi-Changling book before anyone else :D

  79. Shari Con 03 Feb 2008 at 7:23 pm

I am definitely not a writer, but would love to work with Nina Bangs if I ever had the chance.

  80. Nancyon 03 Feb 2008 at 10:10 pm

Hi Dakota! Best wishes on your upcoming release of “The Accidental Werewolf!” Your such an amazing person and deserve nothing but the best. If I had the luck of having the writing “gene” wading around in my pool then I would love to Co-author something with you. I would love to write a novel about a Missunderstood Beauty Contest and all the trials and tribulations that a Contestant has to get to the top. Did I mention that She was a He….hahahahaha. We could call it….Tiaras, Sashes and Balls….does that work???

Congrats baby doll…cannot wait for Tuesday.

  81. Terri Shawon 03 Feb 2008 at 10:12 pm

    Peirs Anthony

  82. Nicoleon 03 Feb 2008 at 11:03 pm

Err…not an author, but Marjorie M. Liu. I love her books and can’t wait to read more of her new series. Not to mention the cover rocks. But maybe Patricia Briggs…or Mel, or anyone who writes fab dark fantasy.

  83. kim hon 04 Feb 2008 at 12:29 am

isay leslie kelly or vicki thompson they write contemp stories i love. they are hot and cool authors
