A Writer Without Censor-The Final Countdown

Published by Dakota at 2:18 am under Uncategorized

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee–I’m almost done.

And I’m THREE freakin’ weeks ahead of schedule.

I know.

I’m a machine.

A battered, broken one because YouTube was determined to keep me from uploading this (which has to mean something), but still, A MACHINE. LOLLOL

Go on. Don’t be shy :)

Dakota :)

All Right!!! You go girl - the final countdown!

But seriously, how do you write with the puppies around? I only have 3 cats and they will always interrupt what I’m doing, and I know dogs are more social (& noisy).

Keep up the great work; we’ll see you when it’s done! :bg:

  2. aztecladyon 08 Oct 2009 at 10:42 am

Oh the cute puppies!!! Playing quietly in the background while mommy talks–those are some well behaved doggies, Dakota!

And thank you for the vlog, I love them!

Which is funny, since I’m the one who has said, loudly, most everywhere else, that I don’t even watch most video blogs, or even book trailers. See how special you are, woman?

Woot sooo close (or you might already be done woot)

Love the vlog and totally love the puppy wrestle mania going on in the background.

    :bigkiss:

  4. Catherine Bybeeon 08 Oct 2009 at 1:37 pm

Your dogs stole the show, sister. LOL.. So, I’m guessing that the end song will be the theme to Rocky.

    Be back next week!

  5. dakota cassidyon 08 Oct 2009 at 1:51 pm

LOL@ Robert–actually, the dogs usually stay with Rob while he watches TV and I work. Id’ forgotten they were in there with me. But if it’s just T and Pebbles, they amuse themselves. Throw one more puppy in, and it’s on.

Catherine–you’re SO WRONG. LOL. You’ll never guess it. Though my group members know what it is because I post the title of it when I finish a book.

AZ–typically, they’re total horrors. Milo wasn’t in the mix–add the third, one-eyed incontinent dog, and it’s WW3. LOL

And thanks! I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about vlogging. It’s easier on my fingers, for sure, but then I realized I talk the way I write. So it wouldn’t be that much diff in the end anyway. Oh, and I’m not camera shy. LOL

    Hugs, everyone!

Another good blog. Your puppies are so cute. It was hilarious to watch them fighting in the background. Your book is sounding more and more like my life every day. Sad but sort of true. Divorced and gunshy. Anyway, be glad you are not where I am. ND. It will get into the twenties tonight and that is the fear of the s word. PS can I get a clone of Rob? Patty from ND

I loved the entertainment in the background with your dogs. LOL 90-95 wpm~WTF! You ARE a machine! And with the nails too; you go! Congrats on almost being done. That’s excellent. I have a question. How many times do you read through your work? Do you read through as you go or wait until you finish your first draft? Do you print out a hard copy to make edits? OK so that was more than A question.

Lovely, as always. I’ll be sad when you’re done with the book cuz there’ll be no more vlog…

    Take care, lady~

Loved the vlog!! Can’t wait for the next one. :)

  9. dakota cassidyon 08 Oct 2009 at 4:01 pm

Hey, Miki! I used to be an infamous tweaker. I couldn’t write two pages without going back over them. However, that’s time consuming and seriously not productive for me. So now I do my word count goal for the night and walk away. Then the next day I go over and tweak what I wrote the night before.

It’s really helped me to move forward rather than OCD about two stinkin’ pages. When I’m done, I’ll give it a god read through, make sure all my ducks are in a row, and walk away. I have to or I’d never have another book on the stands. tee hee :)

Patty in ND–fear not, darling. I know gun shy like a supermodel knows the feel of her finger down her throat. When you find the right person, it really does just click. Promise. So try and let go of some of your fears. At least enough to ENJOY new adventures rather than fear them. Your new adventures don’t have to be about men, either. They can just be about Y-O-U. healing you is the key to eventually allowing another relationship begin :)

  10. Mikion 08 Oct 2009 at 4:21 pm

Thanks for that, Dakota. I do the same thing; I get my word count for the day then read through it the next. It’s cool to know what works for others.

    You’re a doll! :bigkiss:

  11. Monaon 11 Oct 2009 at 6:50 pm

Can’t wait to read this one! Love your books! I ADORE Accidentally Dead, Nina is my girl crush hahaha

  12. dakota cassidyon 11 Oct 2009 at 10:57 pm

Oh, Mona! Thanks–I loved Nina, too. Of all the girls, she’s prolly the one character I think most like–though I never say the stuff she says out loud. LOL

And oddly, maxine’s mom in SIUP is Mona :)

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Dakota :)

Hooray! Almost done! You are definately “The Machine” :O
It will be a shame when you are done tho, as no more vlogging. Are you going to vlog your next project? Looking forward to the contest!! And your dogs are so sweet! :bg:

  14. Lisa Mon 12 Oct 2009 at 11:27 pm

Dakota, aweetie, I just love listening to you talk about your writing, but I kinda got when I was sidetracked by the puppies playing in the background. (and it’s not your fault, it’s mne because I am on painkilles for my tooth and my attention span is not that greta tonight) I was all “ooh, look at the puppies!” lol. I’m just messing with you,! (well, except for the part about the painkillers-I just
found out I need a root canal! ugh!) but seriously, I can’t wait for the new book. Keep it up girl! Kisses….Lisa

While I find the writing process interesting (I always wondered how others dealt with the “Jesus, I’m a hundred hand written pages in and they’re not in bed together yet” syndrome) I thought it was far more interesting to keep an eye on your kooky ass dogs in the background. Your papillion looks like my cat. At least I think that’s a papillion.

  16. dakota cassidyon 19 Oct 2009 at 2:44 am

Actually, the kooky ass dog’s a mini long-haired Chihuahua :)

And if your cat looks like a papillion, who’s kooky? LOLLOL

    Thanks for stopping by, Skeet!

  17. Lynn Crainon 22 Oct 2009 at 12:35 pm

    You go girl!

It’s good to find another person who just puts the pedal to the medal like I do when writing.

You are funny…always knew you were…and you deserve all the good things.

    I’ll stop by later!

I had a couple of other blog obligations, so I wanted to clear those up before I did the contest here for the end of SIUP.

Look for the latest vlog in the next couple of days :)

  20. aztecladyon 22 Oct 2009 at 6:26 pm

Dakota, you do know you can always tell me to stop hounding you, right? I know I am a royal pain in the behind.

Which would make more sense if I were a shining example of never being late which… well, let’s just say I’m not quite that punctual.

  21. dakota cassidyon 22 Oct 2009 at 9:11 pm

LOl–nah, yer keepin’ me on my toes. I promise to shoot for tonight or Monday night. it depends on how the writing goes.

But I AM having an ARC and Amazon gift cert contest–so it’ll be worth the wait :) I promise :)

LOl–I know, I know, but I forgot Terri would be out of town for work, and she’s who does my newsletter. You don’t want the peeps on my newsletter to miss the contest, do you? Tee hee.

So I wait until she gets back and then I’ll whammy you.

    MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hi Dakota!! You must always celebrate each page you do! I don’t know what i’d do without the fun steamy reads of yours! I loved watching you on your video!! You feel better SOON! :luvu:

  26. Pat Cochranon 03 Nov 2009 at 1:33 am

Goodness gracious, (before I continue I have to put my Grandma Pat hat on) child,
you need some chicken soup and sleep, in that order! Also some aspirin for that
temperature and call me in the morning to let me know if it helped!

I’m new to your literature and got here in response to a newsletter from you. I have
read an excerpt and it really caught my attention. I look forward to picking up your
books on my next bookstore run!

Take care and get some rest!!
